Christianity - Their Beliefs on Abortion
The sixth commandment of the Holy Bible states "Thu shalt not kill." Exodus 20:13 Christianity believes abortion is killing human life.

Christians believe God is actively and personally involved in the unborn's life:
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:13-16).
Christians believe birth is not the beginning of life; it is the arrival. Further evidence that an unborn being is a person is seen in Luke 1:44 when God talks about how Elizabeth's unborn baby was aware of the unborn child that Mary was carrying when he says "As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy". The very fact that God states and describes that the unborn baby leapt for joy, confirms in Christians minds that the being in a pregnant woman's body is a fully designed; living human being.
The Bible also states that God knew people before they were unborn. For example, Jeremiah1:5 reads "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations". The prophets recognized that God knew them before they were born.
Also Isaiah 49:1 states "Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me, from my birth he has made mention of my name".
Christians believe that our bodies are not our own, they are God's. God designed and created all human life for His purpose. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says :Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.... You are not your own."
